My wildlife photography is an emotional journey into the souls of animals, seeking to capture their intelligence, depth, and our connection to them. I strive to go beyond the physical beauty of the wild, reaching toward the raw emotion, mood, and presence within each creature. Through my lens, I hope to portray animals not merely as subjects — but as storytellers, each carrying a unique spirit and energy.

Whether it’s the piercing gaze of a predator, the quiet wisdom in an animal’s eyes, or the gentle vulnerability of a fleeting moment in the wild, my intention is to create not just an image — but an invitation. An invitation into the wild’s emotional landscape, where soul connection offers a power and presence deeper than words.

To engage with the soul of wildlife is to remember your own belonging — to feel aligned, strengthened, and renewed by a living world that is not apart from you, but within you.

I want my work to invite people to feel the power of the wild — the inner strength that comes from being in the wild, amongst wildlife, to feel their soul renew through connection to these beings. To feel wildlife as sentient beings, holding stories, emotions, and energy that reflect something deep within us all and connect us all.

Reflection

As Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero once wrote, “The face is a picture of the mind as the eyes are its interpreter.”

It’s a sentiment that speaks to the heart of my work. In every portrait, I’m drawn to the eyes—not just as a feature, but as a passage. They reveal more than expression; they offer a glimpse into thought, feeling, and presence.

To photograph wildlife is to be invited, silently, into that space. A moment of recognition between species. A quiet knowing. A portrait not of appearance, but of being.

About the Artist

Simone Cull is a self-taught Australian-based wildlife and nature photographer with a lifelong love for the wilderness.

With a science degree majoring in ecology, Simone has always been drawn to the natural world. From as early as she can remember, she has felt a deep connection with animals—seeing them not as subjects, but as friends and neighbours.

Animals have always made her feel understood. To sit quietly and observe their behaviour, their mannerisms, and their presence creates a pathway—an unspoken connection of understanding.

In those moments, everything else fades. The stress of everyday life disappears, and there is only stillness.

To truly be still… to observe… to allow yourself to simply be.

Animals sense this. They feel it. And in that quiet understanding, a connection opens—between our world and theirs.

This is what Simone’s photography is about:
The connection between us. The soul of the animal. The life of nature and our existence within it.
