He lay on his belly, arms gently folded beneath his chest, his eyes cast downward—lost in a quiet world of thought. Just a metre away, this magnificent silverback mountain gorilla allowed me into a moment so still, so intimate, it felt like a dream finally come true.

This silverback, one of three males in his family group, radiated both power and peace. His nearness captivated me—his expression full of something we so often forget exists in the wild: introspection. I found myself caught between the desire to document him and the need to simply be with him. I wanted to stay there forever, in awe, wrapped in wonder.
